Goals_Prediction_YFS_Workshop
This is the football goals prediction exercise for YFS workshop on 9th June 2018.
The dataset is extracted from Kaggle, European Soccer Database. It contains match results from season 2008/09 to 2015/16 across 11 major european leagues.
This exercise aims at providing the basic instructions in building a simple linear regression model for predictive analysis.
Objective: Predict total number of goals in football matches using information about the season, home and away team names, and which league it is in.
Result: Mean Absolute Error = 1.338305
